A lot to be thankful for . . . .

I know, the big day is not even here yet, but we've already had a lot to be thankful for this month, and we've even celebrated early!

First there was Claire's baby dedication service at church. All of her grandparents, Trey, Jeff, Amanda and Casey were able to attend. We had our Thanksgiving meal early the Saturday night before. We are THANKFUL for everyone getting to come celebrate such a special day with us.

Second there was Maggie's Thanksgiving lunch in her room at daycare. Her teachers did a great job. We had lunch in Maggie's classroom. We are THANKFUL for Ms. Irena and Ms. Pat.

Third, we spent most of this weekend doing laundry, but we still got a lot of rest, and look forward to the time off this week and hope it will be a lot of fun for us. Amidst busy careers, long commutes and traffic, we are THANKFUL for downtime with our girls!

If we don't post again, have a great Thanksgiving from the Kennedy family.

Updates on the girls and Fall colors

So, the important stuff first, right?

I took the girls to the pediatrician this morning for checkups and vaccinations. Sounds like fun!!! Maggie needed to get her flu vaccine and we opted for the flu mist this year. She did great! I also had Maggie's ears checked since her tubes have already fallen out (after only 10 months). Her ears are clear for now and she is a whopping 39.5 inches tall. She's grown two and a half inches in the past six months. This would explain all her clothes being too short. The big update with Maggie from this week is (drumroll please)....she can write her name...all by herself!!!! We are beyond excited and proud. See picture below...

On to Claire...Claire was due for her 4 month check up. Claire now weighs 15 pounds and is 24.5 inches long. Maggie was the EXACT same weight and length at her 4 month check up. Funny. Continuing on her big sister's path, Claire has another ear infection. If you've lost count, that's two already- two!!! I had no idea since Claire is also the happiest baby. She is also still wheezing so we are going to try one more medicine before starting another medicine used to treat asthma. Claire ended her checkup with two shots and an oral vaccination. She was asleep five minutes later.

I am home today decorating cakes for my college roomate's little girl, Tana. Tana will be celebrating her first birthday tomorrow and I am excited to be making the cakes. Pictures to come later of the cakes and Claire's birthday picture.

Onto the fall color. Our backyard/forest is so colorful right now, I had to take some pictures. It's so pretty this time of year.

Trick or Treat

By the time I picked Maggie and Claire up Friday afternoon, Maggie was in full-swing Halloween mode. They had gone trick-or-treating at school during the day and had two parties in their class! Sugar overload...

She was asking about every two minutes to put her Tinkerbell costume back on and when it was finally time she was so excited to go trick-or-treating. The original plan was for Claire and I to stay home handing out candy and for Andy and Maggie to go load up on candy. I decided to take Claire to a couple of houses so we could see Maggie in action and it was so funny. It took her a few houses to get into it but after the third house, she was on a mission. Claire and I came home after the fifth or sixth house but she and Andy ended up about a half a mile away (on foot). She was so tired by that point, Andy had to carry her most of the way home...up hill. She has a LOAD of candy, which we are having to ration out. She wanted candy for breakfast this morning!

Besides Friday being Claire's first Halloween, we gave her rice cereal for the first time. She didn't really know what to do with it once it was in her mouth but didn't spit it back out either. We gave her some more yesterday and today but I'm not sure she's ready for it. She just doesn't seem interested. So, we'll try again in a few weeks.

Saturday was a milestone day for Maggie...her first haircut...ever. We had prepped her for a few days as to what was going to happen and she did great. She didn't wiggle too much and really enjoyed being the girly girl that she is. We only got it trimmed so it's hard to really tell but that's what we wanted.

I'm off to Nashville tomorrow for the night for work but I'll be back Tuesday. Andy and I mailed our absentee election ballots in Saturday. The early voting lines were a minimum of two hours long so there was a good chance that's what it will be like Tuesday...we just preferred to do it in the comfort of our own home, without a line.

Have a good week,
Katie

PS- the pictures loaded out of order for some reason...sorry.

Happy Halloween, part 1

Our church had a Fall Festival Wednesday night and Maggie had a blast. It was pretty cold so we didn't stay too long. Maggie is Tinkerbell this year and loves her "sparkly dress". Claire dressed up as herself...I just had to keep her bundled up! Maggie is Tinkerbell again today at school for a class party and trick-or-treating and then it's off with Daddy tonight trick-or-treating while Claire and I stay at home and hand out candy.

Here are pictures from the Fall Festival at church.

Busy, busy, busy...

The past two weeks have been very hectic around the Kennedy house. Andy and I have both been out of town a good bit and Gigi was able to come keep the girls last week while we were both out of town at the same time. Gigi brought Ms. Kim and Sammie with her and I wish we had been able to capture Maggie and Sammie playing when they first saw each other. It was so loud and they were SO excited!

Gigi and Ms. Kim kept the girls busy with fun activities and Claire was her usual happy self with all the activity. There were trips to the aquarium, Stone Mountain and the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. There were lots and lots of pictures taken and I have picked out some to share. Enjoy.

Thanks Gigi, Ms. Kim and Sammie...Maggie and Claire had a blast!
