Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend together as a family.

Andy was out of town last week for work and flew into Atlanta Friday night. Maggie had been asking about where he was all week, so Maggie and I made the trip to the airport Friday night to greet him. She was so excited to see her Daddy!

Bright and early Saturday morning, Andy and Maggie dyed Easter eggs and then we were all off to an Easter Egg hunt at some friends home. Maggie was more interested in swinging instead of hunting for eggs but she had a great time and the weather was beautiful.

Sunday, we all put on our Easter best and went to church. The church service was very nice and I don't think I've ever seen our church as crowded as it was Sunday. When we got home from lunch, the Easter Bunny had brought Maggie her Easter basket. She had fun opening it and somehow managed to take a nap before she realized there was chocolate candy in the basket.

Here are the pictures from our Easter weekend.

What Mommy and Daddy did while Maggie was in Disney World

We slept. A lot.

Andy and I decided to have a quiet weekend away in Hilton Head Island, SC while Maggie was running Gigi, Papa, Uncle Trey and Angie ragged in Disney World.

We arrived Thursday afternoon and had a very relaxing weekend. We shopped, ate dinner past 7pm and slept past 7:30am. We came home Sunday afternoon to the biggest mess thanks to Jack Pete.

We had pet sitters come twice a day over the weekend and after they left Sunday morning, JP decided that he was hungry. So, he drug out two bags of flour out of the pantry and DESTROYED them. There was flour everywhere. Oh, and he ate several handfuls of roasted almonds. I was too mad to take pictures.

On a completely different note, we did miss all the bad weather in Atlanta over the weekend. Andy's office building was hit pretty hard in downtown Atlanta. Andy is traveling for work this week and has not been able to see his office firsthand but he was notified that his office has been damaged enough for him to be relocated to another office. So, he isn't sure what he is going to find in his original office when he gets back next Monday.

Here are some pictures from Hilton Head.

30 years of chicken

As some of you may know, my dad, operates a Chick-fil-A in Mississippi. What some of you may not know is that 2008 marked his 30th year doing so. For the past 7 or so months, Tara and her marketing team at Chick-fil-A have been planning a BIG surprise party for him.

We all headed to Jackson the weekend before the Disney trip and the surprise was a big hit. A lot of his former employees (many of who told me they attended my first birthday party-ha), were able to be there and share memories of working for my dad and what his influence has meant to them.

It was a lot of fun and we were glad to be a part of the day.

Maggie's trip to Mickey Mouse's house...

To say that Maggie had a good time in Disney World (or Mickey Mouse's house) would be quite the understatement. She LOVED it. She also had four adults to take her wherever she wanted to go. Here were her favorite things at Disney:

1. Small boats (It's A Small World ride)
2. New train (monorail, which she helped drive one day)
3. Blue train (the choo choo train that went around the Magic Kingdom)
4. Swimming at the hotel
5. Getting to dress up like a princess and have her face painted like Tinkerbell

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but that's the gist of the trip.

She did get a special chance to be the greeter for a little while for It's a Small World. She got to wave to all the people riding through and then got a special ride herself when it was over.

Needless to say, when the trip ended Maggie fell asleep instantly on the plane and wanted to know the next day when she could go back.

Maggie is back in Atlanta now- YEAH!!! She went back to school today after being gone for 12 school days- wow. Her friends were so excited to see her.

The pictures from Disney will be in a different post- there are a lot and it won't even be near all of them.

Weekend Away, Part 1

I'm not sure how it happened but March is our month to travel. We started out in north MS last weekend to visit Andy's family and celebrate our nephew, David's, first birthday.

Maggie had a blast on the trip and stayed in north MS this week to continue the fun. She and Anna had a great time playing together.

One the way back to Atlanta, Andy and I stopped in Birmingham to visit with the Hengst's and meet their new addition, Tana.

We are heading to Jackson this weekend and Hilton Head Island, SC next weekend.

Here are some pictures.
