A Pre-Birthday Celebration

Andy and I started the weekend off with a bang. We had a night on the town Friday night to celebrate my upcoming birthday (I will be in MS for my actual birthday this week). One of Andy's co-workers offered to babysit Maggie, so we decided to "paint the town red".

We started by having dinner at The Country Club at the Wynn Las Vegas. When we arrived they showed us right to our table. We were very happy with our table, as it had perfect views of the waterfall at the end of the Wynn's golf course. Dinner was just as good as the view. Andy and I both had fondue for the first time and it was a real treat.

After dinner, we walked through the shops at the Wynn including, Christian Dior, Cartier, Chanel, etc... (we did not buy anything). And, the icing on the cake was that we had third row seats for Le Reve. The show was amazing and if anyone ever visits Las Vegas, we highly recommend the show.

The evening/morning ended at 1am with two tired parents who had to take a long way home. The interstate close to where we live was shut down due to a propane plant explosion. The interstate didn't open until 24 hours later.

We did our weekly shopping yesterday after Maggie and I met one of my good friends, Stella, for lunch. Stella hadn't met Maggie yet and Maggie made sure lunch was unforgettable.

I hope everyone had a good weekend and for those of you who Maggie and I will get to see this week in MS- see you soon!!!!

A Day in the Life of Maggie

Here is a typical day in the life of Maggie.

Between 7 & 7:30 am- "Mama, Mama..." (this proceeds until I get her out of her bed).

5 minutes later- dumps entire laundry basket of toys upside down and gets inside the basket.

Immediately following- Daily workout with Mama (this is just a workout for me, Maggie gets a comfortable ride in the stroller with her milk and the hot Nevada air).

8:30 am- Breakfast (usually cheerios or yogurt)

After breakfast- MOVIE TIME- Her preferences these days are Baby Newton, Baby Noah and Baby Neptune by Baby Einstein.

9:30 am- Playtime in ExerSaucer (this is so I can take a shower and not worry about her climbing in the shower with me).

10 until noon- more playtime with Mama

12 noon- LUNCH (if Maggie is going to go light on a meal, this is the one).

1pm- Starts rubbing eyes and getting a little irritated at Mama.

1:30 pm- zzzzzzzz...Nap time.......

3:30 or 3:45 pm- Time to get up again!!!!!

4:00 pm- Help Mama start dinner prep and clean up the kitchen. (Most often she ends up in her highchair so she won't climb in the dishwasher).

4:30 pm- DADDY'S HOME!!!- I know when Andy is home before he walks in the door. It's when Maggie and Jack Pete are standing by the door after they hear the garage door open.

6:30 pm- Dinner time

7:30 pm- start getting ready for bed- this usually entails the wildest part of the day for her

8 pm- Bedtime....only if her blanket and Monk Monk are in the bed with her.

Happy Saturday

It's Andy here. I'm giving Katie the night off from Kennedy Tales.

Not much going on this weekend. We went to the Las Vegas Swap Meet today. In the South we you would know this as a flea market. We didn't find much, but we did see some VERY interesting people. Of course, that's not hard to accomplish in Las Vegas. Before we got to the swap meet, we had a flat tire on Katie's car. This represented two firsts for me. 1) I have never changed a tire. No big thing, I've just been very lucky during the last 14 years of my driving career. 2) Katie's car had trouble, and I was around. Before we moved, if Katie was going to have trouble with her car, I was always out of town and her Dad would have to talk her through roadside assistance. So, a very productive day.

Maggie went to a playgroup at Chuck E Cheese. Maggie has a very busy social life with two play groups a week plus story time at the library. She barely has time for me to come home for lunch on Thursday. Maybe I should dress up like a mouse and serve pizza!

The other thing Maggie is busy doing: GROWING UP. Katie and I can't believe it. You'll see in the pictures how big she's getting. Her hair is getting long and she's even climbing on her stool by herself to brush her teeth. Yesterday she started carrying her purse over her shoulder.

Have a good weekend.

ROAD TRIP!!!

The Kennedys went on a road trip this weekend.

Question: Where can you go from Las Vegas in under 3 hours, traveling in 3 different states and two time zones?

Answer: Zion National Park in Hurricane, Utah.

We decided not to spend another weekend talking about doing something but to actually do something. We hit the road late morning on Saturday and arrived at Zion National Park for a late picnic lunch. We really enjoyed our hike and Maggie had a great time too. We also were able to enjoy some country cooking at the Cracker Barrel, in St. George, Utah (about an hour and a half from home). The crazy thing is that this is the closest Cracker Barrel to our house!!

The pictures speak best for our road trip.

This was over not being able to get the remote control. (The last time we let her have the remote, she somehow got TiVo to record a few hours of the local news). Posted by Picasa

Maggie does wish to let the grandparents know that she did not appreciate this last picture being taken. She wanted to call you and let you know what we did, but she didn't know how. Andy and I laughed.
